My DIY Bathroom Mirror Makeover

Hello!

Life has been packed these days (hubby traveling, school, a retreat...), but I finally have a quiet evening to write a blog post!

Today's post is about a project I completed two weeks ago. I always feel claustrophobic in our family bathroom because there is no window and there is no way to install one (as the master bathroom is behind the wall). I saw on Pinterest that you can create a window effect using old window panes, mirrors with a window pane, or painting a faux window. I decided to keep my eye out for materials to use for a potential decor window at the thrift store, Hobby Lobby, or yard sales. The very next day Peter surprised me by stopping at a yard sale and among the usual knick-knacks was this mirror/window pane! It was only $2 so I knew it was totally doable!

I decided the dark gray was out of place for the bright bathroom, so I ordered a tube of white acrylic paint and white washed the decor mirror.

Much better! It took three coats of the white paint to get it looking the way I wanted.

The finished product! I currently have fall decor in the bathroom to cheer it up for the kids and I added a few fall leaves to the mirror using dry-erase markers.

What clever ways have you used a window pane or mirror with a window pane? I'd love to hear about your DIY projects!
