One Year Later...An Overdue Blog Post

Hellooooo!!! (Mrs. Doubtfire style)

    I can hardly believe it has been over a year since my last post. My sincere apologies! In my defense, it has been a busy year;

   We MOVED!!! To lovely New Jersey... and it truly is lovely. We are enjoying the reason it was nicknamed "The Garden State." Our property doesn't have produce (yet!), but we have been pruning our very decorative boarders and trees, weeding, cleaning out the garden bed for next year, and trying hard to keep our potted flowers and basil from dying. We also LOVE the warmer climate as opposed to the spazzy New England temperatures.
We especially are blessed to now be close to so many family members! We see family at least once a week for any variety of social reasons. I love that our children can have play-dates with their cousins and consider them their best friends.
 Peter was able to get a transfer with his job and he is doing so well with his new territory! I'm so proud of all his achievements this past year. He's worked so hard and traveled far and wide to provide that we are well taken care of.

   I'm seeing the best doctor in New Jersey for my hormone treatments and so far I've been feeling great! I'm so blessed to have a great new team of doctors and nurses so close to our new home.
I have a FitBit and it's currently my favorite gadget. My health was so bad early in the Spring. I was sick to my stomach and fighting constant nausea causing me to get down to my pre-marriage weight. I heard that FitBit was great to track calorie intake and hydration. I knew that because I was on my feet all day long and definitely not drinking enough water or eating enough calories to make up for my daily, child-chasing exercise, that I needed some help and motivation to keep meat on my bones.
I noticed that after one month of using my FitBit (I've has it since May) that I've also had less battles with depression! When I'm starting to get into a funk I walk laps. I realized how much I missed walking! I used to walk laps in High School every day and I seriously loved every moment. I've even been inspired to take the whole family for a walk outdoors once a week. On rainy days, we walk laps around the house. It gives the kids a great exercise too! They race each other or pick a funny animal to imitate per lap.
I've found the daily walking has been great for my energy and Endometriosis symptoms as well. Pushing myself to walk a few laps when all I want to do is curl up in bed and stay there all day has been a game-changer. Instead of binge-watching movies or shows at the end of a weary day, I make sure to finish my Steps Goal and then reward myself with a show and a snack.

   I got my new library card and I'm probably their biggest fan. We take the kids once a week, every week. Erica loves the American Girl series and we are obsessed with Felicity the movie. Celine loves Elephant and Piggie books. Ian and Matt are more interested in Thomas the Tank Engine movies or books. We've listened to several audio books in the car durring our recent road trips. Our favorites have been American Girl collection Felicity and we are currently listening to Molly. Charlotte's Web, by E. B. White, was awesome, lots of giggling from the back seats!
I've been reading the Princess Diaries by Meg Cabot. I'm waiting for the library to order book IV for me so I'm back to Nancy Drew by Carolyn Keene. I own books 1-100 and I didn't realize there were ones I was missing until I went to the library. I think I just read book 186 or something like that. I still loved it. No. I ATE it. I am certain that the way I read books can be more properly described as devouring! I finished it late last night and now I'm itching to get started on the second one I borrowed.

      The kids are starting school next week! I'm very excited. The girls are in need of that routine and getting out of the house every day (and away from each other!). Erica is going into 1st grade and Celine PreK (only half-week). I'll be starting the Leap Frog reading program during Celine's off-days at home and Ian will start PreK3 and potty training! Matt's just plain trouble (though quite adorable still). Just when we think we have the house baby-proofed he puts us to shame (like the refrigerator incident last week...). Matt's favorite game of late is "Duck, Duck, I Hid My Duck" which is always followed up with the game "Whomever Finds The Duck Gets A Coin" or "Check The Trash for Matt's Bottle!"

   That pretty much sums up what we've been up to! Here are some cute pictures as a peace offering and a promise that I'll be writing another blog post soon(er).

My Life,
Michelle
