A Clean Slate
I'm so excited that school starts next week! Erica will be starting Kindergarten and the week after, Celine will start PreK three days a week! I'm doing Nursery School and fun PreK activities at home for Ian and Celine.
I love love love setting up my school board for the children. I'm especially pleased because my blackboard looks so sexy against my newly painted walls! (Thank you, Peter!!!)
Setting up for homeschool always gets my creative, teacher instincts all agog.
I love using lots of colors to catch the children's eyes and make it fun for myself.
I love using Pinterest for activity ideas as well as using my own materials from around the house. I'm especially excited this year because I've joined a local PreSchool Homeschool group that involves doing fun things like a Teddy Bear Picnic with senior citizens and apple picking. I'm also excited to join a moms group at Church for weekly rosary and socializing with our children.
Why am I homeschooling while sending my children to school? I'm doing it as an intentional effort to be with my children as they develop. Im helping them view every aspect of their day as a chance to learn and grow. I believe that the most important part of a child's education comes from home. Peter helped me come up with an official job title for myself and other stay-at-home moms; we are Domestic Engineers!!!
