Baby #3 Week 38 Are We There Yet? and I Don't Want To!

38 weeks! I'm so done, but not done... I'm sure other mamas can relate.

Last Friday I came down with some stomach bug that caused contractions. As I couldn't tell if it was labor causing me to be sick or sickness causing prelabor, I called in our neighbors daughter to watch the girls while her mother drove me to the hospital. Peter was with a friend who was having surgery done, so he called my dad, who drove down with my sister to care for our friend so Peter could come be with me. Fortunately, my doula was with me right away in Labor and Delivery. After so few hours of monitoring and my being ill, it was obvious that it was a sickness causing the contractions. Once my poor tummy was under control the contractions slowed and then stopped.

As annoying and miserable as it was, that experience was a perfect rehearsal for the real deal. The past week I have been keeping up on my vitamins and stretches routine to keep in shape. I've also been going from days of major nesting to plain exhaustion. My sister stayed the weekend through Wednesday to help out and she was great company as well as my furniture mover during my nesting bouts.

Last week, my mother-in-law stayed for a few days while Peter was in Montreal on business. We had a lovely visit together and went shopping and out for lunch. The girls miss Gramma!

Part of my nesting this week has been decorating for Fall. I received a shipment of fall candles yesterday, so now my house smells like pumpkins and apples all around!

Baby feels so low that I keep thinking that it will either punch through or break my waters when it stretches or kicks. I'm trying to imagine actually holding a newborn in my arms to keep my motivation up, because I'm so not ready yet! It's been hard imagining having two toddlers plus caring for a newborn after both girls caught colds last week. I'm sure we'll settle into our new family dynamic eventually, but I know of two little divas who aren't going to like sharing mommy's attention.

Speaking of divas, daughter #2 is waking up from her nap in a ghastly cranky manner.
