I had so much fun with my sister last week while Peter was traveling around Switzerland and Germany for business, but I'm so happy to have him home! The weekend was spent catching up on rest from jet lag and family time. Sunday was spent being lazy in the morning and hanging out and in the afternoon we went to an awesome Mass for the feast of Corpus Christi followed by Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and a procession outdoors and a reception.
Monday, yesterday, was a loooong day, but I spent it doing chores, unpacking more stuff, organizing more stuff, and cleaning more...stuff. In the evening we had our parish priest over to bless our new home! It was a lovely little ceremony in which we invited a few friends and their littles over and served refreshments. After our guests left, my wonderful husband treated me to a shoulder and back massage. Totally awesome! My pregnant body loved every moment of it.
Last night we didn't sleep terribly well. Dainty has been up every night for the past several weeks with this awful cough. She doesn't have a fever or runny nose, but eczema indicated to us that it was allergy related. Last night was worse for us than usual. Dainty's cough was persistent and she refused to drink, take medication, or even suck on some honey for her throat. In the morning she was hoarse and raspy. We called her pediatrician first thing and made an early appointment. I knew that Dainty's recent stranger anxiety would make it impossible for the doctor to examine her without her going into hysterics, so I wisely brought along my iPad with the movie Frozen ready to distract my Elsa obsessed toddler. Fortunately, Dainty cooperated enough for the pediatrician to confirm asthma. I kind of suspected as much; having siblings with asthma and the way she gets worked up even when she is just running around the house and her face gets red and puffy. We decided to try soothing her allergy triggers first, as her precious little personality won't allow us to get a nebulizer within a yard of her body. If the allergy medication doesn't help, we will try using the nebulizer once she first falls asleep (the first two hours of her sleep are deep... It's just once mommy and daddy go to bed that she starts coughing and wheezing). I bought her a hypoallergenic big-girl pillow to go with her big girl bed along with a new mattress and we are making plans to replace her bedroom carpet with hard wood flooring. I'm hoping that we will all sleep better tonight!
Peter bought our first lawn mower tonight. It is much needed so we can actually find the lawn surrounding our new home.
Big belleh.
It probably doesn't look too big, but it's dragging me down and causing lots of pressure on my, well, everywhere! When baby rolls over you can actually see my stomach lolling around...kinda weird. Celia and Sunny picked a strawberry from our garden last week and gifted it to me as it took on the appearance of my "pregnant belly button." Ah...lovely! I set up the porta crib in the nursery to look it over and I'm not too happy with how Dainty treated it. I'm hoping that the screws just need tightening and they aren't frayed.
The big-girl bed!
These fun-filled summer days are the perfect recipe for naps! Don't be mistaken, this is a picture of Sunny, not Dainty. I'm thinking it's kind of cute how she loves wearing her friend, Joey's, clothes (note the truck shirt).
I'm going to send this pregnant mama to bed now. Enjoy the rest of your week! Don't forget, Hump Day is tomorrow.
