Peter was so sweet in gifting me with a childhood
favorite book, A Little Princess by Frances Hodgson Burnett,
for my birthday this year.

I was excited when I finally finished reading
other books on my reading list
(there are at least 20 on my list right now).
I am about half-way through it right now,
and I'm determined to take it slow and soak it all in.

Reading this book has filled me with so many memories
of my youth and reminded where I get my motivation from.

This is one of the very first books that I read at say,
8 years old, and it changed my young life forever.

Now, at 26 years old, I'm frequently told
by others how much they admire my patience
and the way I can keep my cool during
difficult times.
Ladies and gentlemen, this book is the key.
I was always very impressionable
and thought about things in a different light
than others, so I guess that is why I
made Princess Sara's story my own.

Just like Saint Therese with her
"Little Way" to sainthood,
Sara Crewe invented
"The Princess Game"
to help her be the princess that
God made her to be.

It is very childish,
pretending to be a princess,
is it not?
But, if we all thought as children do,
wouldn't we all be saints by now?

BTW, I'm still pretending to be a princess.
Now, I don't mean a spoiled rotten princess,
but a true Child of God Princess.
That is what Sara, in A Little Princess, has to discover about herself and practice.
It isn't the clothes we wear or the wealth we possess,
that makes us royalty;
it is what's in our heart and how we rise above
the crosses that come our way
that stamps us as to what we truly are.

I highly recommend this book to all,
especially little girls.
This isn't a Disney fairytale,
this could be anyone's story.
It should be our own story.

This book teaches one to strip himself/herself of pride
and worldly title
and embrace who you truly are:
a child who has nothing except through God.
If we follow God's will and accept
the path He has set for us
and show LOVE in spite of the
cruel trials and temptations of the world,
we will enjoy our Happy Ending
with Him someday.
