WARNING: this is yet another recipe chain.
I must confess right off that I just got this recipe from Hanna's Frugal Kitchen TEN minutes ago. I was taken with it immediately and decided to try it... TEN MINUTES AGO. It was super easy to put together...a record 6 MINUTES!!! My pan of fudge is now chillin like a villain in the fridge and I am HOPING that it will be cool enough to test in 15 minutes...
Peanut Butter Fudge
1 cup butter or regular stick margarine
1 cup peanut butter
1 tsp. vanilla
3 to 3 1/2 cups powdered sugar
Microwave butter and peanut butter 2 minutes. Stir and microwave 2 minutes more. Add vanilla and sugar. Stir to combine. Pour into a buttered 8 x 8" pan lined with waxed paper. Place a second piece over top and smooth it out. Refrigerate until firm. Store up to 1 week.
slightly adapted from Alton Brown
Note how the recipe above says to cook for 2 minutes and then another 2 minutes... remember how I mentioned that it took me 6 minutes to make these bad boys? That means that it took me 4 minutes of total cook time and the other 2 minutes were preparing the pan and stirring...and licking the spoon...and the bowl...
A challenge to my lovely readers is to see how fast you can make this yourselves! BUT be careful!!! The PB and butter mixture is worse than molten lava! I used potholders to handle the bowl.
DISCLAIMER:
There is no mention in this post about washing your dishes after making the fudge. The time it takes to do so is not factored into the time equation of this recipe. Bake at your own discretion and keep in mind that if you leave sticky, sweet utensils in the sink you may have a platoon of ants feasting on the remains by morning.
