Hey All!
I have your results from my questionnaire:
"On a Depressing Rainy Day, What Motivates You To Find Joy?!"
The top answer is:
(*drum roll please!*)
*BAKING SOMETHING OOEY AND GOOEY!*
Awesome! People after my own heart!
Second place is:
Reading a Great Book!
A hearty thanks to all who participated!
I must admit that all of the answers are my own choices. I try my best to make rainy days full of joy and color so that there is never a dull moment to tempt myself and others into a "I'm so bored and sad" mood. I find that on gray days I get tired and usually end up with a headache, and kids get grumpy and argumentative. To curb this, I have found that turning on a few soft lights around the house (to give an impression of daylight) drastically improve moods. This has been especially effective with the little ones! Also, I dress myself and the family in our brightest, cheerful clothes... who says you must save your best for those sunny outings?
This past week was a great opportunity to get creative!
My sister was visiting and we had two solid days of downpour;
but we made the best of it!
We painted our nails in bright colors (I am displaying a lovely Barbie pink still),
watched my favorite Classic Disney The Little Mermaid,
baked my sister's famous ooey-gooey chocolate chip cookies,
made tattoos with gel pens,
invented creative hair styles,
crafted friendship bracelets,
read out loud,
played a few rounds of Mancala,
did facial makeovers,
and cooked a few colorful dishes for supper.
Next time you get one of those dark wet days remember to bring the sunshine back with your own creativity! It is guaranteed to keep your spirits high and by the time the sun peeks out again, you won't even remember that you missed it!
