Hey All!
I couldn't help but share this recipe I found from Hanna's Frugal Kitchen today! As soon as I read the recipe, I wanted them more than a child wants his birthday presents! If you go to Hanna's blog, you will note that she shared it from another gal's page. This is why I call it a Recipe Chain... we are all connected through links of happy snacking!
Donut Muffins
1/3 cup shortening
1/2 cup sugar
1 egg
1 1/2 cup flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
3/4 cup milk
Topping:
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 cup. melted butter or margarine
Mash together the shortening and sugar. Add the egg and whisk until smooth. Add the flour, baking powder, salt, and nutmeg. Pour in milk and whisk until smooth. Fill 12 greased or paper-lined muffin cups 1/2 to 2/3 full. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes.
For the topping, mix the sugar and cinnamon. When the muffins have cooled some, dip in the melted margarine, then the cinnamon sugar mixture.
*OK, if that last line about margarine and cinnamon sugar didn't get you drooling, then you aught to try making them and using your smell to get those taste-buds awake!
